Elon, you sure do have your foot in the door!

Hi, my social mirror reflectors, let's talk about Elon Musk—because y'all, that man is everywhere. We all know him for his luxurious car the tesla, or perhaps you know him as the space guy, or the Twitter/X guy, but now? He's bulldozing his way into politics in a way that's impossible to ignore. And guess what? He recently became best buddies with President Donald Trump. If you wonder how he was able to accomplish that, let me introduce you to something called the foot-in-the-door technique—it's an old social psychology trick, and Musk is playing it like a pro.

So, hear me out: Musk used to act like he wasn’t really into politics. Sure, he’d tweet about policies, clash with politicians, and make cryptic comments about government overreach, but he always played the “I’m just an independent thinker” card. Fast forward to now, and suddenly he’s the best of friends with Donald Trump, he's meeting up with political power players, and making serious moves that could shape the country’s future. People are wondering and so am I —how did this happen? How did Musk, who was once a distant friend of a politician, get so quickly drawn into Trump's inner circle? The foot-in-the-door principle comes into play here. So, this is a game of mind that essentially states that if you can make someone agree to a small request, then they will agree to a large one in the future. That's why the salesman is getting you to sign up for a trial—because once you agree to do something tiny, you will be more likely to make a big purchase in the future. Musk didn't just stumble into Trump's inner circle overnight. He started small at first tweeting about government policy, talking about free speech (especially after buying Twitter/X), and making quiet donations. Then he moved on to larger things—meetings with politicians, supporting candidates, and using his companies to get involved in national security and energy policy. Prior to Trump's re-election, Musk already had his foot in the door of politics, and it would be an easy thing to walk right inside with Trump when the door opened. Musk saw trump as his ticket remember he's a businessman you can't put anything past him. Would he ever become a politician? Doubtful—he wasn't born in America. But that doesn't stop him from being a kingmaker, whispering in Trump's ear and deciding policies that fill his pockets. With his listeners (literally, as he owns X), his resources, and his connections, Musk is now a political force to be reckoned with.

People might be shocked at how intimate Musk and Trump have become, but social psychology guarantees that it's no accident. The foot-in-the-door technique proves that baby steps lead to giant strides—and Musk is the master of positioning himself as indispensable. So let's take note. Because once one gets their foot in the door, the next thing to do is walk right in—and Musk is not the sort of guy to be left at the door.
